If you've used Procore, Buildertrend, or CoConstruct, you know the pattern. Powerful on paper. Overwhelming in practice. Built for construction companies with dedicated software admins, not for a builder running three homes with a field PM and a part-time office manager.
We built BLT because we believed there was a better way — and that the right moment to build it was now, when AI is capable enough to be genuinely useful on a job site, not just in a boardroom.
What "AI-Native" Actually Means
Most construction software that claims AI has bolted a chatbot onto an existing platform. You can ask it questions, maybe. But the AI doesn't know what's happening on your jobs unless you tell it.
BLT is different. Every action in the system — every expense submitted, every receipt scanned, every budget change made, every photo uploaded, every hour logged — is written to a live event stream. The AI reads this stream continuously. It doesn't wait to be asked. It watches.
This means BLT's AI can tell you things you didn't know to ask. When Foundation Materials on your third build is trending 38% higher than the same phase on your first two, the AI flags it. When a subcontractor's cumulative invoices are approaching their estimate ceiling, you hear about it before the invoice lands. When a phase has been active for three days with no photos logged, the AI notices.
Built for Two Roles, One Reality
Construction has a fundamental split: the people doing the work and the people managing the money are rarely in the same place. The PM is on-site with a phone, covered in sawdust. The manager is at a desk reviewing numbers. They need different interfaces to the same data.
BLT is a Progressive Web App — one codebase, two experiences. The PM gets a mobile-first interface optimized for speed: tap to log an expense, tap to photograph a receipt, tap to capture a progress photo and tag it to a phase. The manager gets a full desktop dashboard: three project cards side by side, weekly review workflow, AI insights panel, budget editor.
Both are looking at the same live data. No export/import cycle. No end-of-week data entry. What the PM logs in the field appears instantly in the manager's dashboard.
The Financial Core
Most project management tools treat finance as an afterthought. Most accounting tools have no concept of phases, tasks, or job sites. BLT sits in the middle on purpose.
Every dollar in BLT traces to a project, a phase, and a budget line item. Always. The budget's Actual Spend is never a manually entered number — it's a live rollup of real transactions. Receipts, labor hours, subcontractor invoices, manager purchases. Everything.
What's Coming
BLT launched with a full feature set: expense tracking, receipt OCR, photo documentation, crew time tracking, subcontractor management, purchase pre-approval, weekly reconciliation, and the full AI intelligence layer. Upcoming: bank statement import, draw request generation, and AI-powered budget templates built from your historical project data.
The construction industry deserves software that works as hard as the people using it. BLT is that software. It starts free. It grows with you.
